Integrations › Cursor
Cursor is an AI-first IDE with full filesystem access. Open your Postal workspace, ask the agent to create tasks, and they appear on your board within one second. No plugins, no API keys, no setup.
Pick the method that fits your workflow. All three work because Postal stores tasks as plain files and Cursor can read and write files natively.
The fastest way to get started. Open your Postal workspace folder directly in Cursor and start talking to the agent.
1. Open Cursor
2. File > Open Folder > ~/Documents/Postal
3. Cursor indexes all files, including AGENT.md
4. Open Composer (agent mode) and ask:
"Create a task called 'Fix login bug' with notes
about the session timeout issue"
5. Postal detects the new files within ~1 second
Cursor automatically indexes AGENT.md
when it opens the folder. The agent already knows the
file format before you ask anything.
Cursor respects .cursorrules files for
project-specific AI instructions. Add one to your
Postal workspace so the agent always knows the task
format.
This is a Postal task management workspace. Read AGENT.md for the file format.
Tasks are stored as: project-folder/task-id/content.md (# Title + markdown notes)
Metadata is in project-folder/.project.json
When asked to create tasks, follow the AGENT.md format exactly.
With .cursorrules in place, every
Composer session starts with context about Postal's
format. No need to repeat instructions.
Keep your code project and Postal workspace both accessible. Cursor's agent can write to any directory on your filesystem — it doesn't need to be the open project.
"Create a Postal task in ~/Documents/Postal for the
bug I just fixed. Title it 'Auth timeout patched' and
add notes about the session refresh change. Follow the
AGENT.md format at ~/Documents/Postal/AGENT.md."
This is ideal when you want task management alongside active development — fix a bug, then immediately log it as a completed task without switching windows.
Cursor's agent mode can read and write any file on your machine. Postal stores tasks as files. No middleware needed.
Nothing to install from a marketplace. Open the folder, talk to the agent. Cursor already has everything it needs.
Postal's file watcher detects changes within one second. Create a task in Cursor and see it on your board almost immediately.
Developers live in their IDE. Cursor lets you manage tasks without leaving your editor or switching to another app.
